Jennifer Gowdy on the Gap She Found in Aesthetics and How Pure Skin Palm Beach Answers It

Q: Before you opened Pure Skin, what was your experience in the world of aesthetics?

JG: My path into aesthetics began on the industry side. I spent years working in aesthetic medical device technologies, collaborating closely with plastic surgeons, dermatologists, and medical spas, after building my foundation in dermatology and oncology sales. Those experiences gave me a deep appreciation for the science behind aesthetic treatments and technologies. They also taught me to look beyond marketing claims and focus on clinical evidence—an approach that continues to guide every treatment and product recommendation at Pure Skin today.

Q: You've said that this experience helped you spot a real gap in the industry. What was it, and how does Pure Skin answer it?

JG: The gap was a lack of education and long-term strategy. I saw too many patients receiving treatment after treatment without a clear understanding of why they were doing it, how their skin was changing over time, or how different treatments and products worked together. The experience often felt transactional—a quick fix rather than a thoughtful plan. I wanted to build the opposite. At Pure Skin, consultation and education come first. We help patients understand their skin, their options, and the science behind our recommendations, then create a personalized roadmap that supports their goals over time. Our goal is not just to deliver great results today, but to empower patients to make informed decisions about their skin for years to come.

Q: How is your approach different?

JG: Every patient starts with a real consultation. Before we ever talk about a specific treatment, I want to understand your skin, your history, your goals, and your timeline. I'll tell you honestly what will help and what won't, and if something isn't right for you, I'll say so. From there we build a plan together instead of treating one concern in isolation. The difference is that we're not selling a procedure — we're guiding a long-term journey.

Q: How did you come up with the name Pure Skin?

JG: It actually started as Pure Skin Collagen Boutique. Collagen was at the heart of everything I believed in—and this was back in 2018, before "regenerative aesthetics" was even part of the conversation. I was already building the practice around supporting and stimulating the skin's own collagen production rather than chasing quick fixes. The word Pure reflected the outcome I was after natural, healthy-looking skin that never appears overdone. As the practice grew, our services expanded beyond collagen-focused treatments, and the name evolved to Pure Skin Palm Beach. But the philosophy remains exactly the same today: helping patients achieve healthy, natural results by working with their skin, not against it.

Q: Alongside tox and fillers, Pure Skin offers bioregenerative treatments like Renuva and PDGF+. For someone who's never heard those terms, what are they?

JG: They're another set of tools, and they work alongside neurotoxins and fillers rather than replacing them. Neurotoxins don't just soften wrinkles—they can also help lift, sculpt, and tighten areas of the face, particularly the lower face and neck. Fillers restore structure and volume.

Bioregenerative treatments take a different approach. They work with your body's own biology to rebuild what's been lost. I often describe it as a "replace like with like" philosophy. Sculptra stimulates your own collagen production, Renuva helps regenerate your own fat cells, and PDGF+ supports the skin's natural repair processes. Instead of simply adding something to the face, we're encouraging the body to restore itself, which often creates very natural-looking results.

Q: As a former industry insider, how do you decide which products and devices earn a place at Pure Skin?

JG: I start with the clinical evidence, never the brochure. My years in aesthetic medical device technologies taught me that not every new device is a breakthrough. Some are here today and gone tomorrow, while others are simply variations of technology that already exists. I'm an early adopter, but I'm not first to market for the sake of being first. I wait for the data, the clinical experience, and the outcomes to prove themselves. When we invest in a platform like BBL HEROic or Ultherapy PRIME, it's because I believe it represents a meaningful advancement for our patients, not just a new trend.

Q: Pure Skin expanded into functional wellness. Why was it important to you that skin health connect to whole-body wellness?

JG: Skin doesn't age in isolation—it reflects what's happening throughout the body. My passion for wellness actually began as a patient. For more than a decade, I've personally explored areas like hormone optimization, peptides, and preventive wellness, and I've experienced firsthand the impact they can have on energy, vitality, confidence, and overall quality of life. That journey turned me into a strong advocate for helping others understand the options available to them.

When I talk with patients about wellness, I'm often sharing my own experiences and the benefits I've seen, both personally and professionally. It became clear to me that you can't fully address skin health without considering the whole person.

That's why we expanded beyond aesthetics and built an integrated wellness division led by Dr. Marissa Magsino alongside two highly sought-after nurse practitioners. Together, we offer services ranging from BHRT and peptide therapy to hair restoration and longevity-focused treatments. The goal isn't to turn back the clock—it's to help people look, feel, and function at their best through every stage of life.

You describe your philosophy as working with the body's natural biology rather than against it. What does that look like for a patient over a year, versus a single visit?

A single visit can give you a beautiful result, but real transformation happens through consistency over time. I often compare skin health and healthy aging to fitness. If you go to the gym once a week, you'll see some benefits. If you go three times a week, you'll see more. If you combine exercise with good nutrition, the results improve even further.

The same is true for skin and wellness. A patient may start with regenerative treatments to stimulate collagen, then incorporate a personalized skincare regimen, wellness support, hormone optimization, or other therapies as appropriate. Each modality builds on the others. When we're working with the body's natural biology, we're supporting its ability to repair, regenerate, and function optimally.

Over the course of a year, that consistent, multi-modal approach can lead to healthier skin, improved collagen, better texture and tone, and overall vitality. That's why I'd rather build a thoughtful long-term plan than focus on a single dramatic treatment. The best results come from consistency, and they continue to improve over time.

Q: How do you find time to both provide consultations and manage your business?

JG: It's definitely challenging, and I'll be honest—it's a constant balancing act. The consultation side of the business is still my favorite part of what I do. Educating patients, helping them understand their options, and guiding them on their journey is what drew me to aesthetics in the first place.

At the same time, building and leading a team has been an incredibly rewarding area of professional growth for me. I care deeply about the people who work at Pure Skin, and I take a lot of pride in mentoring the talented young women on our team. I want to see them succeed not only professionally, but personally as well. One of the most fulfilling parts of leadership is watching someone gain confidence, develop new skills, and create opportunities for themselves.

Ultimately, I see both roles as connected. Whether I'm consulting with a patient or supporting a team member, my goal is the same: to educate, empower, and help people become the best version of themselves. I hope the impact of Pure Skin extends well beyond the treatments we provide and well beyond the time someone spends working here.

Q: What trends in aesthetic medicine are you most excited about for 2026?

JG: I'm excited to see regenerative and bioregenerative medicine continue to mature. Treatments like PDGF+, exosomes, biostimulators, bioregenerative injectables, and technologies that support the body's own repair and renewal processes are changing the way we think about aging. Instead of simply masking signs of aging, we're increasingly able to work with the body's natural biology to restore what has been lost.

I'm also excited by the convergence of aesthetics, longevity, and preventive wellness. We're moving away from treating skin health as a separate vanity category and toward a more integrated approach that recognizes the connection between how we look, feel, and function.

Most importantly, patients are driving this evolution. They're more educated than ever and are asking better questions. They want the science, the clinical evidence, and the long-term strategy—not just the latest trend. That's a conversation I've been passionate about for years, and it's exciting to see the industry moving in that direction.

Four Things About Jennifer Gowdy

1. Your favorite thing about West Palm Beach — and the El Cid neighborhood Pure Skin calls home?  What I love most about West Palm Beach is that it's a city that's thriving, growing, and constantly evolving. I often refer to it as a "youthquake"—there's an influx of talented, ambitious people bringing new energy, ideas, and businesses to the area. It's creating an incredible environment for innovation, especially in health, wellness, and lifestyle.

2. Your favorite local spot in the Palm Beach area to grab a meal or a glass of wine?

Two of my favorites are Grato and Mr. B's. They're both close to Pure Skin, but what I love most is that they feel like true neighborhood gems. The food is consistently excellent, the service is always welcoming, and the atmosphere strikes that perfect balance between casual and polished. You can stop in wearing your scrubs after a long day at work or bring along our Chief Relaxation Officer, Ms. Lexi, and feel right at home. They really capture the friendly, community-oriented spirit that makes this area such a great place to live and work.

3. Your favorite treatment to perform?  The only treatment I personally perform at Pure Skin is Ultherapy, which makes it especially meaningful to me. In many ways, it was the foundation of the business. Before opening Pure Skin, I traveled throughout South Florida providing mobile Ultherapy treatments in plastic surgery, dermatology, and aesthetic practices. I've believed in the technology from the beginning because it works with the body's natural collagen-building process to create gradual, natural-looking lifting and tightening.

4. Your favorite treatment to receive? As a patient, my favorite treatment to receive is SkinPen microneedling combined with tranexamic acid and PDGF-BB. As someone who manages melasma, I love the way tranexamic acid helps calm pigmentation while the microneedling stimulates renewal. Adding PDGF-BB gives the skin an extra regenerative boost, helping improve overall skin quality, texture, and radiance.
